HB LeSean McCoy is practically the face of the Eagles frachise. He led the league in rushing in 2013, but he declined in 2014 and got 1319 yards and only 5 rushing TDs. These numbers seem above average but his numbers were way low till 3/4s of the season was already over. HC Chip Kelly had been giving HB Darren Sproles most of the HB receiving role and gave HB Chris Polk the short yardage situations allowing it to make sense for McCoy to be dealt especially being owed 11.25 this season.
Kiko Alonso had a terrific year in 2013 and led the league in tackles with 159 tackles. Kiko Alonso in 2014 had a torn ACL and couldn't play this season leaving him with lots of question marks. If he's healthy, he could become the 2nd best LB in the league behind LB Luke Kuelchy of the Carolina Panthers. Alonso is also an Oregon Duck making him the 8th Oregon player in the Eagles organization because we all know Kelly sure loves his Ducks.
This trade allows the Bills to feel secure at HB for once rather than dealing with the battle between HBs CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson, and the Eagles are able to expand their LB core after already signing Green Bay Packers LB Brad Jones as well as the release of LB Trent Cole and possibly LB DeMeco Ryans.
