Top 25 QB's: 5. Matthew Stafford

The final 5. These guys are the elitie. They have the arms. They have the legs. They have the weapons. One of these QB's is none other than: Matthew Stafford. Matthew Stafford had over 5,000 yards last year making him one of the best QB's in the NFL. They've got Calvin Cohnson, Nate Burelson, Titus Young, and Brandon Pettigrew as great weapons!!! The one question everyone has to wonder though is: Can Matthew Stafford stay healthy? Last year was the only year that he played all 16 games. Stafford is very fragile, but he might have built up his stability. Drafting OT Riley Rieff was a good decision so that he has more protection, but will it be enough to keep him alive?

Top 25 QB's: 6. Eli Manning

Eli Manning is the Super Bowl MVP who may be on the rise or may collapse. Eli is very risky with all the competition for top QB going on. With Mario Manningham gone it also causes less weapons to be avalible, but he has Victor Cruz is on the rise. With Brandon Jacobs gone it starts to eliminate play action plays which could be another issue. Eli has to work hard to survive this year.

Top 25 QB's: 7. Michael Vick

Michael Vick was supposed to be a big name last year, but he came up short. He then entered the hot seat with Andy Reid due to lack of postseason. Michael Vick will needs to be better then the 7th best QB. He needs to be a top 5 QB this year to survive! He has the legs, arms, and leadership, but he does not have the mind to consider before throwing a pass to DeSean Jackson in double coverage instead of going to Jeremy Maclin open for a 10 yard gain. I said Vick needs to be a top 5 QB, but he will deal with some tough competition when this season starts.

Top 25 QB's: 8. Tony Romo

Tony Romo is a QB entering his last year of prime. This is a make or break year. If he can get these Cowboys deep into the playoffs he will be safe for another year, but if he can't reach the playoffs he may lose his job if the Cowboys can find a diffrent QB. He has the weapons from Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and Demarco Murray. If he can't make the playoffs with this: He should have never played football in the 1st place!

QB Battles Part 1: Tennesse Titans

QB Battles is a post on who is the top QB on certain teams starting with Tennesse. This battle will be between Jake Locker and Matt Hassleback. Matt Hassleback is very experienced from 10 years with the Seattle Seahwks. He has a good arm, but he is extremely fragile. Jake Locker is a QB with not only an arm, but he also has the legs to run the ball like Michael Vick or Cam Newton if you give him a season or 2. I have to go with Jake Locker since he is young and strong while Hasselback is falling apart.

Joseph Addai Released

Joseph Addai was recently released from the New England Patriots due to failing his physical. At this point it may be quite hard to find a place to start at RB, but he can't even be fit enough to play, so he will probably be owned by free agency.

Top 25 QB's: 9. Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning. A big name in football, a future hall of famer, and a Denver Bronco. Denver. They may have made the playoffs, but they had Tim Tebow back then. A completely different strategy
will be used. Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning are completely diffrent. Tim Tebow runs; Peyton Manning throws. This will be tough for Peyton to work out this teams old habits and develop new ones. With Manning comeing of an injury it's also gonna be interesting to see how he responds to hits. This is a make or break year for Manning. He needs to show if he is still the Peyton Manning everone knows, or if he is really the guy who deserves to be overshadowed by his brother, Eli Manning.

Top 25 QB's: 10. Phillip Rivers

We have finally made it to the top 10! This is when it will get interesting! You never know who will come next, but today is Phillip Rivers. Phillip Rivers is a big QB who should be ranked better than this if it wasn't for his horrible throwing mistakes. With Mike Tolbert gone he will get more oppurtunities to pass, but he can't make these mistakes! He must learn to think on his feet or maybe even use those feet on some more plays to open up play action and deep plays. Phillip Rivers is in a make or break year. He will go way up in these standings or collapse under the pressure.

Brandon Weeden: Stud or Dud?

Welcome to a weekly blog post on the new rookies in the NFL leading up to the begining of the season. Today we will start with the 21st overall pick in the draft: QB Brandon Weeden of the Clevland Browns. Brandon Weeden is a 29 year old rookie. Something you don't see often in football, but this is due to the fact of being drafted by the New York Yankees when he was a pitcher. He eventually changed to football and become a 1st round pick in the NFL Draft. "He has a breakout star (Joshua Cribbs) on his team", reported analyst M Cat. He also has Trent Richardson (a future Stud or Dud? player) on his team who is big enough to run through anyone to help support play action passing, but Weeden is a rookie with a extremley young team that can cause problems in experience. They have to also compete against teams including: Ray Rice and the Ravens, Ben Rothleinsburger and the Steelers, and AJ Green and the Bengals. Do to these teams with tough defense and offense I must reluctantly call Brandon Weeden a DUD for now.

Breaking News

Dre Kirkpatrick has suffered a sever injury in his leg causing him to miss 6 weeks and probably a few weeks in the NFL Season. Dre Kirkpatrick was drafted 17th overall in the NFL Draft by the Cinncinati Bengals. Kirkpatrick was sceduled to play CB on opening day.

Top 25 QB's: 11. Matt Ryan

Matt Ryan is still pretty new to the football world, but he is not only a leader but a rising star. He has had a very average team for a very long time, but they have finally found a sort of momentum. Michael Turner may be slowing down, but Roddy White and Julio Jones are on the rise as great weapons for Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan has the confidence to make some risky passes that can result in interceptions, but as he increases his accuracy interceptions will begin to become less likely.

Top 25 QB's: 12. Robert Griffin the 3rd

RG3 is supposed to be a huge helper this year for the Redskins. The Redskins give RG3 the O-Line, the weapons, and oppurtunity to run when he likes. The Redskins will be supported by RG3 for a long time. He is already giving leadership to the team, he has lots of ability, and he is going to be a excellent QB for this NFC East divison with Eli Manning, Michael Vick, and Tony Romo.

9.  Jets

12 . Seahawks

Top 25 QB's: 13. Ben Roethleinsburger

Ben Roethleinsburger has always been a strong QB with the strength to take some hits, but he is starting to get old and is suffering more injuries. He is getting beat up badly and can't take as many hits as usual. He is alos losing his speed to dodge hits. He is in trouble if he can't avoid hits.

Top 25 QB's: 14. Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler suffered a season ending injury last year losing all hopes for the playoffs for the Chicago Bears. He is a terrific QB, but who knows how he will respond to this injury. He is a terrific passing QB and can run when he needs to. With Matt Forte added back to the team the play action plays will be stronger then ever. Jay Cutler is gonna hopefully be what he has always been: a great QB.

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Top 25 QB's: 15. Matt Schaub

Matt Schaub suffered a season ending injury last year causing replacement TJ Yates to play the rest of the year. During that time I came to a realization: The Texans do not need Matt Schaub! Matt Schaub may help the team a tiny bit, but TJ Yates won a playoff game! Matt Schaub is not a leader for this team and is not a necessary component to win games. Arian Foster is who the Texans need along with Andre Johnson! Matt Schaub will have a good year if he stays healthy, bt he will not be a huge component for this offense.

Top 25 QB's: 16. Carson Palmer

After almost having his career ended by a holdout on the Cininnati Bengals he was traded to the Oakland Raider and exploded. He just was able to work so well with the rest of the team. They just have that kind of "connection". I expect him to have this connection with the team agin this year and may lead to a playoff berth with the help of RB Darren McFadden's return. Carson Palmer is a great QB, but is starting to get old. Sorry for inconvience but I'm unable to display a picture.

Top 25 QB's: 17. Josh Freeman

Josh Freeman last year was an extreme dissapointment especially after having such a good ending to 2010. This may me a comeback year though with the addition of WR Vincent Jackson and TE Kellen Winslow. Though he may be unable to help the team do anything productive with the opponets in the league including: Cam Newton and the Panthers, Roddy White and the Falcons, and Drew Brees and the New Orleons Saints. Josh Freeman is gonna need a lot of luck just to compete this year.

Robert Griffin the 3rd's Rookie Contract

Robert Griffin the 3rd has finally signed his 1st deal as a NFL player. He signed a 4 year deal worth 21 million dollars. With RG3 added to the Redskins the Redskins may make the playoffs.

Ray Rice's New Deal

Ray Rice agreed to a long term deal with the Ravens on Monday. Ray Rice signed a 40 million dollar deal with about 35 million guarrentteed. Ray Rice is another player to take off the list of holdouts. With the return of Ray Rice there will be several layers more of the Ravens that defenses will have to fight against.

Matt Forte's New Deal

Matt Forte has now agreed to a long term deal with the Chicago Bears on Monday. Matt Forte signed a 4 year contract guarrenteed 18 million and 8 million per year. With Matt Forte signing this new deal it will help bring a new level of fear into teams as Forte is a speedy RB and WR.

Top 25 QB's: 18. Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco is a up and coming QB. He has all the weapon he needs including Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, and Ray Rice. He would have made the Super Bowl last year if it wasn't for a drop by Lee Evans and a missed field goal by Billy Cundiff, which would have probably led to a Super Bowl Ring. If Joe Flacco can do what he did last year or better the Baltimore Ravens will be a major threat.

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Top 25 QB's: 19. Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton was extremley underrated last year. He was a great match for WR AJ Green. Andy Dalton will one day become a great passer. He has already led the Bengals to a playoff berth. He was able to successfully lead the team, but he needs some more seasoning. This was realized after a loss to the Houston Texans with TJ Yates at QB. An extreme disapointment. Hopefully Andy Dalton will be able to not only make the playoffs, but win a game or 2. Due to computer error I'm unable to show a picture. Sorry for the inconvience.

Top 25 QB's: 20. Andrew Luck

Andrew Luck was the #1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was expected to do big things this year, but people have begun to realize that RG3 is far superior to Luck. Luck on the Colts will cause a losing season due to the lack of offense and lack of leadership from Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck may have been good in college, but he might end up being the next Sam Bradford. A player drafted to do big but falls apart.

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Top 25 QB's: 21. Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick has always been what I consider an average QB. He is a decent passer and runs the ball when he needs to. He has the weapons on offense including Stevie Johnson and David Nelson, and he has RB's Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller running for the Bills for help incase of the need for a play action pass. If he can do better than what he did last year he could give the Bills a big chance in the wild card race.

WR Mike Williams Released

Yesterday Mike Williams of the Seattle Seahawks was released. The remaining WR's are Ben Obomanu and Golden Tate. There are several teams that could go to try to get Mike Williams to upgrade the recieving staff. Below are the ranks of the teams that could use a reciever.
1. St. Louis Rams: The Rams were ranked #27 in recieving YD's last season with 3,258 YD's. Their current recievers are Brandon Gibson and Danario Alexander which shows desperate need for a new reciever to power up the staff.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars were ranked #32 in recieving YD's with 2,510 YD's. Their current recievers are Justin Blackmon and Mike Thomas. The Jaguars have the worst recieving due to the QB Blaine Gabbert who needs some exciting weapons to at least do something.
3. Indianopolis Colts: The Colts were ranked #29 in recieving last year for 3,223 YD's. Their current recievers are: Austin Collis and Pierre Garcon. Their passing was one of the worst last year due to the injured Peyton Manning. Andrew Luck is now in charge in Indianopolis and will probably be looking for more weapons to power the team.
4. Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs were ranked #26 in the NFL with 3,288 YD's. Thie current recievers are Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston. This would be a smart move due to Dwayne Bowe holding out incase they can't find a deal. It might even scare Bowe into making a deal.
5. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers were ranked #13 in the NFL with 4,089 YD's. Their current recievers are Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell. At this point I'm not sure if Cam Newton has enough weapons to be 100% comfortable with passing the ball causing him to run it, but other teams know this and will try to plan for his runs causing Newton to fall off balance. Another weapon will give him more confidence in his passing game which can help lead toward a playoff berth.

Top 25 QB's: 22. Alex Smith

Alex Smith last year led the San Francisco 49ers to the NFC Championship game and lost it to the Super Bowl Champions the New York Giants! Alex Smith is a QB who could excel or could fail. It depends on how he can work with the new WR's: Randy Moss and Mario Manningham. If he can get the ball around enough he could really confuse the defenses and try to get some long passes out there. They already have the defense. Frank Gore and Brandon Jacobs are decent RB's, but it all depends on Alex Smith. If he can be a breakout star the 49ers could get a chance in the Super Bowl.

Drew Brees's new deal

Over the past several months the New Orleons Saints and Drew Brees have been negotiating a new contract, and they finally agreed to a deal for 5 years for $100,000,000. He is guarrenteed $60 million, and he will earn $40,000,000 this year.
Interesting fact: Drew Brees will earn more money than the rest of the Saints offense this year. Brees will make $40,000,000 and the Saints offense will make approximitley 37.75 million dollars.

Top 25 QB's: 23. Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford is a QB who hasn't been really a QB. A QB does not only have to throw the ball, but he has to be a leader like Tony Romo or Eli Manning. Sam Bradford seems unable to be a leader toward this team. This leads to big time problems for the team. With all those draft picks they traded for from the Redskins for Robert Griffin the 3rd, it's about time to draft a QB with more leadership skills. Even with Steven Jackson they a stuck in a deep hole surrounded by tough competition including: Alex Smith and the 49ers, Marshwan Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks, and Larry Fitzgerald with the Arizona Cardinals. Lots of trouble ahead for the Rams if they keep going with Sam Bradford.

Fantasty TE Rankings 2012

1. Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots) Tier1
2. Jimmy Graham (New Orleons Saints) Tier 1
3. Aaron Hernandez (New England Patriots) Tier 1
4. Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers) Tier 1
5. Jermichael Finley (Green Bay Packers) Tier 2
6. Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys) Tier 2
7. Vernon Davis (San Francisco 49ers) Tier 2
8. Fred Davis (Washington Redskins) Tier 3
9. Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta Falcons) Tier 3
10. Brandon Pettigrew (Detroit Lions) Tier 3
11. Jacob Tamme (Denver Broncos) Tier 3
12. Brent Celek (Philadelphia Eagles) Tier 3
13. Jermanie Gresham (Cincinnati Bengals) Tier 4
14. Jared Cook (Tennesse Titans) Tier 4
15. Coby Fleener (Indianopolis Colts) Tier 4

Drew Brees Holdout?

Over the past few months players including Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Dwayne Bowe have been holding out for long term deals on their contracts, but the biggest name out of all of them is Drew Brees of the New Orleons Saints. This Monday is when all long term deals must be signed, but the question is: Will Brees get a long-term deal by Monday? At this point Brees has said that he would never miss playing a season, so I believe he will be able to agree to the most expensive long-term deal in NFL history which would make him the highest paid NFL player ever. The Saints are already being defeated by the bounty causing them to lose several players and coaches for as long as a year; without Brees the Saints would have nothing.

Top 25 QB's: 24. Mark Sanchez

Mark Sanchez is a QB who has been placed on the hot seat, and Tim Tebow is keeping it warm for him. Mark Sanchez has always been a disappointment for the New York Jets. Last year he got 3,747 YD's for 26 TD's and 18 interceptions in 16 games. He has enough recievers to lead the Jets deep into the playoffs, yet Sanchez is the one player holding the Jets back especcialy since the rest of the team is so strong. You have Darrelle Revis on defense, and then you have Shonn Greene, Santonio Holmes, and Dustin Keller all on the offense. This shows that all the Jets need is something better than Sanchez to succeed (such as Tebow), but until then the Jets will choose to rely on Sanchez. He may not be the best right now, but if he can have the proper training he could grow to develop into a better QB in 5-6 years.

Top 25 QB's: Jake Locker

For the next 25 days I will tell you the best 25 QB's in the NFL for 2012. #25 is Jake Locker. Jake Locker played in 3 games and got 4 TD's for 542 YD's with a 99.2 passer's rating. Jake Locker and Matt Hassleback are currently having a QB battle in Tennesse along with most of the NFL teams. Hassleback is getting old and is losing his skill while Jake Locker is a very young QB filled with energy and is willing to duck his head in there to score some points for his team. Jake Locker is a must start for the Titans because if he doesn't play: the Titans will have the worst season in this century so far.

Top 5 Wideouts in the NFC South

There are some very tough wideouts in the NFL, but the NFC South has a lot of good wideouts. Below are some of the most mentionable players in the NFC South.

5. Vincent Jackson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Vincent Jackson was recently traded from the San Diego Chargers to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! Vincent Jackson used to be the best WR in football until all defenses seemed to come to some sort of agreement to double cover him turning him from an extreme threat to a week wideout. With Josh Freeman throwing the football in Tampa Bay, Vincent Jackson won't be able to be a big time threat anytime soon.
4. Marques Colston (New Orelon Saints): Marques Colston is another old threat. He was a great WR 2 years ago, until Drew Brees began to throw to other recievers causing Colston to lose receptions. There is also the issue of Drew Brees holding out because if Brees doesn't play the Saints will become a running team 3 with Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram, and Pierre Thomas.
3. Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons): Last year he was a rookie who was expected to be overshadowed by Roddy White, but Julio Jones might have overshadowed White! Julio Jones had 54 receptions for 959 yards and 8 TD's. He was such a rookie star I would rank him #5 in all rookies from 2012.
2. Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers): I know what you are probably thinking: He had the best stats out of any wideout last year! Why is he ranked #2??? He is ranked #2 due to the lowering of receptions due to Cam Newton having to much running ability. I believe if Cam Newton was more closley resembling a throwing QB such as Tom Brady or Andy Dalton; Steve Smith would probably see an increase in receptions at about 20%.
1. Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons): White is by far the best wideout in the NFC South! I talked about him earlier being overshadowed by Julio Jones, but being overshadowed gave him a chance to dip deep and have a perfectly good season with 100 receptions for 1, 296 yards and 8 TD's. Julio Jones being on the Falcons just increases Roddy White's numbers.
