Eagles and Jets Trade to Come?

News sources have reported today that a trade for the NFL Draft is very possible between the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The idea of a trade comes to no surprise as most of the offseason the Eagles main story about the draft has been the possibility of trading up in order to secure QB Marcus Mariota. After trade for LB Kiko Alonso, HC Chip Kelly's style of picking players has been put in doubt as people have been referring to the Philadelphia Eagles as the Oregon Eagles instead after the 8 Oregon players currently on their squad.

Who knows if Mariota will even drop to the Jets pick at #6? But if he does, the Eagles have a good chance at grabbing him.

McCoy for Alonso

As many have heard by now, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have made a trade where HB LeSean McCoy will go to Buffalo for LB Kiko Alonso.

HB LeSean McCoy is practically the face of the Eagles frachise. He led the league in rushing in 2013, but he declined in 2014 and got 1319 yards and only 5 rushing TDs. These numbers seem above average but his numbers were way low till 3/4s of the season was already over. HC Chip Kelly had been giving HB Darren Sproles most of the HB receiving role and gave HB Chris Polk the short yardage situations allowing it to make sense for McCoy to be dealt especially being owed 11.25 this season.

Kiko Alonso had a terrific year in 2013 and led the league in tackles with 159 tackles. Kiko Alonso in 2014 had a torn ACL and couldn't play this season leaving him with lots of question marks. If he's healthy, he could become the 2nd best LB in the league behind LB Luke Kuelchy of the Carolina Panthers. Alonso is also an Oregon Duck making him the 8th Oregon player in the Eagles organization because we all know Kelly sure loves his Ducks.

This trade allows the Bills to feel secure at HB for once rather than dealing with the battle between HBs CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson, and the Eagles are able to expand their LB core after already signing Green Bay Packers LB Brad Jones as well as the release of LB Trent Cole and possibly LB DeMeco Ryans.

The Bills are defenitley the winner in this trade after giving up a LB who they didn't need to have a half bad season last year and gain an explosive HB while the Eagles are left with many issues now with lack of a first down back.
