Eagles and Jets Trade to Come?

News sources have reported today that a trade for the NFL Draft is very possible between the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The idea of a trade comes to no surprise as most of the offseason the Eagles main story about the draft has been the possibility of trading up in order to secure QB Marcus Mariota. After trade for LB Kiko Alonso, HC Chip Kelly's style of picking players has been put in doubt as people have been referring to the Philadelphia Eagles as the Oregon Eagles instead after the 8 Oregon players currently on their squad.

Who knows if Mariota will even drop to the Jets pick at #6? But if he does, the Eagles have a good chance at grabbing him.

McCoy for Alonso

As many have heard by now, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have made a trade where HB LeSean McCoy will go to Buffalo for LB Kiko Alonso.

HB LeSean McCoy is practically the face of the Eagles frachise. He led the league in rushing in 2013, but he declined in 2014 and got 1319 yards and only 5 rushing TDs. These numbers seem above average but his numbers were way low till 3/4s of the season was already over. HC Chip Kelly had been giving HB Darren Sproles most of the HB receiving role and gave HB Chris Polk the short yardage situations allowing it to make sense for McCoy to be dealt especially being owed 11.25 this season.

Kiko Alonso had a terrific year in 2013 and led the league in tackles with 159 tackles. Kiko Alonso in 2014 had a torn ACL and couldn't play this season leaving him with lots of question marks. If he's healthy, he could become the 2nd best LB in the league behind LB Luke Kuelchy of the Carolina Panthers. Alonso is also an Oregon Duck making him the 8th Oregon player in the Eagles organization because we all know Kelly sure loves his Ducks.

This trade allows the Bills to feel secure at HB for once rather than dealing with the battle between HBs CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson, and the Eagles are able to expand their LB core after already signing Green Bay Packers LB Brad Jones as well as the release of LB Trent Cole and possibly LB DeMeco Ryans.

The Bills are defenitley the winner in this trade after giving up a LB who they didn't need to have a half bad season last year and gain an explosive HB while the Eagles are left with many issues now with lack of a first down back.

QB Battle in Cleveland... Again

The NFL offseason has barely begun and we already facing a QB Battle for next season. QB Josh McCown vs QB Johnny Manziel.

Josh McCown was recently signed to a 3 year deal with Cleveland and this will leave Browns fans wondering: who will be our QB?

The Browns are a suffering franchise. Last season, they were led by QB Brian Hoyer who is now on the free agent market while also dealing with drug abuser WR Josh Gordon who is facing another year long suspension. The Browns are left with a new logo along with WRs Miles Austin and Andrew Hawkins both weak WR, but their two first round draft picks give easy oppurtunity to pick up a WR like DeVante Parker or Dorial Green-Beckham. The backfield suffers too with HBs Isiah Crowell and Terrance West who both put up less then outstanding numbers this past season.

The times Manziel did play he suffered heavily. He could barely get points on the board for the Browns. McCown faced similar problems but he could at least throw the ball and played a successful season with the Chicago Bears in 2013. Manziel is young though and only played one season. Is he worth sitting on the bench yet again?

The answer:
It doesn't matter. It really doesn't. The Browns team is too flawed for a QB to even run the offense. Unless the Browns do major work in this NFL draft and grab a solid WR or two AND a decent HB, they will have another season of failure to look forward too. If they can solidify their WR and HB core, McCown should start week 1. If not, give Manziel the wheels and let him crash the Browns franchise yet again.

At this rate, he may just be another Tim Tebow.

The Controversy Starring Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray

WR Dez Bryant and HB DeMarco Murray. Two of the best players at their positions. Both Cowboys. Both with expiring contracts. One faces some big off the field issues and one faces some big injury issues. If they have to sign one and release the other, who do they keep? Let's look at the facts.

WR Dez Bryant: 6 ft 2 in, 220 lbs, 26 years old. In 2014, he got 88 receptions for 1320 yards and 16 touchdowns making him one of the best recievers in the NFL next to WR Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers and WR AJ Green of the Cinccinatti Bengals, but he is a big mouth player with many off the field issues including recent video released by TMZ of his mother talking to police about how he hurt her.

On the otherside you have HB DeMarco Murray who is 6 feet tall, 217 lbs, and 27 years old. In 2014, he got 1845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Murray though he has suffered many injuries on the field, but he had a massive amount of carries and suffered minimal injury and made it through all 16 games.

If Dez Bryant left, QB Tony Romo would be left with WR Terrance Williams and WR John Beasley, and a clear possibility of the Cowboys targeting a WR in the draft instead of a highly needed DL.

If Murray left, the Cowboys would be left with HB Lance Dunbar and HB Joseph Randle, and they could go after a HB like HB Melvin Gordon from Wisconin or HB Todd Gurley from Georgia.

The choice hear is easy: Bryant. Tony Romo would not be the QB he was this season without Bryant. Romo relied on Lance Dunbar for his passing game to running backs mainly and will continue that role, Todd Gurley could become as good as DeMarco Murray and could be the next Eddie Lacy. Murray is too much of an injury risk and as horrific as Bryant's incident in 2011 was, it was 4 years ago and will hopefully be a nonissue.

Murray will find another place to run a muck at such as the Jacksonville Jaguars, St Louis Rams, Minnesotta Vikings, or even the New England Patriots (shiver).
