RG3 Trade Block

Are the Washington Redskins getting ready to trade QB Robert Griffin the 3rd? I think they are. Look at the facts:

1. HC Mike Shanahan has been fired. He is a huge RG3 enthusiast, but he is gone. This could mean that the Redskins want to go a different direction.

2. QB Kirk Cousins. A great job at quarterback when he played. Now he didn't really win, but he played very well, especially against the Atlanta Falcons. He has the skill to be the starting QB in the NFL. I think he is in a prime position with a new HC coming in to try to win the starting job.

3. RG3's health. It's been coming back. It's just not coming in a single wave. He played decently this year, but he just wasn't what he used to be. He isn't the caliber runner as QB Michael Vick or QB Cam Newton. He just isn't that type of guy. He's turning into what Vick was after a lot of this injuries in 2010. He is becoming a passer who will run a few times, but he isn't a running QB. He has a great arm, but people can't look past the fact he is a good passer. The Redskins know that, and they can get a good trade out of it.

So what teams could want RG3? I though of the top 4 options for the Redskins to go with.

4. Vikings
Current QB: Matt Cassel
Possible trade: 2nd round pick 2014 and 2015
The Vikings have been on a QB carousel. They start with QB Christian Ponder. They later transitioned to Matt Cassel after Ponder suffered injury. They then traded for QB Josh Freeman from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They ended up with Cassel in the last week, but I don't even know if he's the starter. With HC Lezlie Frazier being fired, the Vikings need some sort of solid player other than HB Adrian Peterson, and RG3 could be the solution.

3. Arizona Cardinals
Current QB: Carson Palmer
Possible Trade: 1st and 3rd round pick 2014 and 3rd round pick 2015
Arizona did well this year. They missed the playoffs by a slim margin that came down to week 17, but they have Carson Palmer who is growing older by the second. He is becoming close to retirement and the Cardinals need to invest in the future. WR Larry Fitzgerald is also starting to decline from his prime, so they need to strike now, especially in a division that consists of a possible dynasty Seahawks, a young 49ers team, and the St Louis Rams who have 2 first round draft picks for the next 3 years. They need to make a name for themself to avoid collapsing and RG3 is the QB they need to be competive with QBs Russel Wilson and Colin Kapernick.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers
Current QB: Ben Roethleinsburger
Possible Trade: 1st and 2nd round pick
The Steelers almost made the playoffs this season. If K Ryan Succop would have made that field goal against the San Diego Chargers, the Steelers would be heading for the playoffs to play the Bengals instead of the Chargers. Sadly, it didn't happen, but they could have secured a playoff spot earlier this season if they had a stronger QB. Yes, Big Ben made it through all 16 games without injury this season, but he will get hurt again. He is very weak and he will get another hard hit, and the Steelers need something to compensate incase he is incapable of playing. Solution: RG3. I'm not saying that he needs to start for Pittsburgh, but he will when Big Ben goes down again, which he most likely will. RG3 would be perfect in this scenario especially with the emergence of WR Antonio Brown and rookie HB Le'Veon Bell.

1. Cleveland Browns
Current QB: Jason Campbell
Possible Trade: Colts 1st round pick and 2nd round pick
The Browns Carousel has been just as bad as the Vikings. QB Brandon Weeden comes in. Then Campbell comes in and is playing better, so they keep him. Then Campbell gets hurt. Weeden plays bad. Here comes Campbell again. He goes down again then Weeden is back, then Campbell comes back to finish the season. Yes they sold HB Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts in one of the better trades I've seen in my time as an analyst but they can use that same pick they got for a solid player in RG3 who paired with WR Josh Gordon will be unstoppable. The Browns can then use their origional pick on a good halfback.

These are all just theories of course. The Redskins probably won't trade RG3, but i think they should. It would defenitley be in their best interest.
